Yeay, you found us!
Here at This Adult Thing HQ, aka my house, we are bungling through everyday life one step at a time. Let us share our escapades with you; From miserable fails (happens a lot) to the things we do well. I share it all.
Basically, there will be a lot of rambling about stuff!
WHO AM I ? … A question I ask myself daily!
I’m Naomi, aged between 30 and something. A mum of three aged 18, 10 & 7. Yes! Before you say it, yes that is a huge age gap, why? Suppose some people just never learn eh!
I am a single mum and have been for many years, 12 to be precise. In all honesty, I think it will probably stay that way FOREVER now!
In a previous life, I worked as a beauty therapist, I am a fully trained hairdresser and have studied lots of alternative therapies; you’d imagine I’d be pretty zen in this case, let me tell you I’m not!!
I am a bit of a stressy scatterbrain, obsessive organiser, home and life “rearranger.” You will find plenty of that here.
However, I do believe, the most important thing you can do for yourself as an adult is looking after yourself.
“The other half” of This Adult thing. My sister!
Despite a somewhat chaotic exterior, Lianne is quite the make-ahead meal, plastic box storing, notepad & pen scrawling type beneath it all.
Lianne is a full-time creative designer. She has an uber stylish home and loves to share her design and style tips. Lianne lives with a cat called Jake who is a real human hoar; he may also make the occasional appearance!
Two of the three kids are on the Autistic spectrum. Aiden, my eldest reached the grand old age of 17 before being diagnosed. We muddled through the years together and managed to make it this far without any significant hiccups.
Aiden is my rock, cheesy I know, but he isn’t your typical teenager. He has taken on the role of man of the house and has supported me through thick and thin. I let him know how much I appreciate this all the time I admittedly am super proud of the young man he has become Awwwwe!
In 2007 along came Lauren, diagnosed “auti” at 5. Well WOW! What a journey it has been so far with this one. Putting our current life phase in polite terms, it is indeed a challenge!
Three years on and throw another one in the mix. Harrison or as we call him “H”. He is so full of beans and is constantly bouncing around. I’m pretty sure has an endless “word quota” In fact, I’m unsure he actually breathes!
