Total beauty Geek alert
I don’t know about you, but I’m a complete beauty geek. I love this wonderful beauty box trend, and fortunately for me, everybody seems to be doing it lately. Let the excited jiggling commence!
This year I decided to really get to grips with self-care and the concept that I matter too. Looking after everybody else’s needs and putting everybody else first all the time is exhausting; Especially if you’re a single mum (or even if you’re not but feel like it!).
I know self-care isn’t all about relaxing baths and pampering, but it’s an excellent place to start. The way you feel on the outside had a direct impact on how you feel about yourself on the inside.
So with this in mind, I jumped at the chance to get my hands on a Look Fantastic beauty box. A subscription beauty box is also a great way of trying out loads of new products at minimal cost. And of course not forgetting a perfect way to schedule in your monthly mumot!
I signed up for a single month box so I could check it out first and I can tell you once it arrived I wasn’t disappointed.
The beautifully designed box is a fab size and can be repurposed to store and organise all of your beauty products. Bonus!
Inside the box, all the products were in perfect condition and were well packaged. Also included was a detailed mini magazine-style guide, with product use instructions and a few other hints and tips to boot.
I had an excited rummage through the box and found a good mix of makeup and skin care products.
The bit about me!
It pains me to admit, but I am a bit of an obsessive makeup hoarder! I don’t wear too much on a daily basis just my regular products, but it is always nice to mix it up and try new things when I get a bit of extra time.
Skin care, on the other hand, is a collection I have only just started to build again. When I worked at the salon I regularly bought the latest products; It cost a lot! Good skin care isn’t cheap and we stocked Guinot, Md Formulations, Decleor and Bare Minerals.
Having spent the past few years buying “el cheapo” stuff I can tell you there is a MASSIVE difference to ingredients and way the products work.
That’s the real beauty of these boxes; You get your hands on all the good stuff without forcing your entire family to starve! (just kidding).
I bet you’re dying to know what my box contained by now so I’ll shut up and get on with it.
Two little bonuses for signing up.
30ml Darphin facial cleanser. This gorgeous melting gel to oil, facial cleanser makes taking off your make up at the end of the day super quick and easy. Just massage the gel into the skin until it becomes oil and splash off with water. Simple as that, no excuses for going to bed with your makeup on ladies!
I also received a complimentary copy of ELLE magazine, the big fashion issue; Swanky.
So what’s in the look Fantastic beauty box then?
Omorovicza balancing moisturiser is a light gel-cream which doesn’t leave your skin feeling tacky or greasy. To top it off it smells divine. The ingredients boast long-lasting hydration for combination skin with ruby crystals which help to diffuse light, minimising the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
I’ll use this one up and keep you posted!
Renu Anti-aging flash relax face mask which contains vitamin C and B5, great for dry or maturer skin. The ingredients combine ginseng and magnesium which gently relax your muscles and provides a smoothing effect, leaving your skin feeling toned and tightened.
Get on my face! I will be incorporating this little number into my facial this month.
Skinchemists rose quarts lip plump*, bursting with active ingredients to hydrate, glides on like a dream! It smells (and tastes!) of peppermint oil which helps plump your lips. The rose pearlescent tint also adds a luxe shine; Until you eat it all off of course!
*Currently out of stock everywhere I checked for you 🙁
Skimono foot mask is the product I’ve had my eye on and can’t wait to try! It’s almost time to get the toes out, supposedly, pfft.
I’m saving this for my mumot pedicure. This little beauty is a sock-like mask containing shea butter and olive oil to soften and moisturise hardened skin. You pop your feet in the serum infused sock for 30 minutes and let it work its magic.
**claps hands, everybody stop what you’re doing; I cant move now!
Stylondon oval face brush which is ideal for blending and contouring foundation, concealer, blush and powder.
I can’t say I’ve quite grasped the concept of brushing on my foundation yet. I feel like a total noob” even though I’ve trained in makeup application the concept of highlighting, contouring and lego eyebrows terrifies me.
That said, I am 37 now I think I feel more comfortable staying a little more natural but I’ll definitely be giving it a go.
Doucce Eye Shadows are highly pigmented and shimmery!
I loved the light application of colour with this product, enabling the build-up of colour should you need it. As opposed to the instant regret of trying a new shadow, only to realise you could have punched yourself in the eye to get the same effect. Meh.
Apply the shadow dry for a more natural look or wet for a longer lasting, more dramatic look.
And there you have it the whole caboodle; In my opinion, the Look Fantastic beauty box is excellent value for money. There’s plenty of product for your pound in there; Making it well worth the splurge.
Roll on April; I’m definitely looking forward to my next box.
Now to schedule in my monthly Mumot so I can use all the lovely products left to try. Keep your eyes peeled for the post very soon.
