Old School Cauliflower cheese remixed. A new spin on the mid-week meal!
Cauliflower cheese is a real old school classic for me. When my son, Aiden, was younger we would visit my Aunts house once a week and spend the day with her. She would make Cauliflower cheese teamed with a slice of buttered bread for dinner most visits; I’m not sure how, but I never got tired of it!
Nowadays, I can’t eat a Cauliflower without being reminded. That’s not a bad thing though, it makes me smile and gives me the fuzzies!
Today, I introduced the kids to the Old School Cauliflower cheese remixed. This recipe is not only purse friendly but yummy too.
Old School Cauliflower cheese remixed
A new spin on the old school (run out of money) that is classic cauliflower cheese
- 1 Medium Cauliflower
- 1/2 Mattessons Smoked Pork Sausage
- 1 Packet Schwartz Cheddar Cheese Sauce
- 1 Tsp Honey Mustard
- Strong Cheddar, Grated
- 300ml Milk
- Good Shake Paprika
- Salt & Pepper
Wash and chop your cauliflower ( how big? depends on the size of your mouth?!)
Steam Cauliflower for 10 -15 minutes
Meanwhile, prepare the Cheese sauce, heat the milk and add the Schwartz mix
Add a good glob of Honey Mustard to the Cheese sauce
Once the Cauliflower and cheese sauce is ready, transfer to an oven proof dish
Chop and chuck in the Smoked Sausage and sprinkle with Paprika, Salt & Pepper
Grate over some good strong vintage cheddar
Bake for 10-15 minutes or until Cheese brown (ish)
