In a previous life, I was a Beauty Therapist and fully trained Hairdresser!
Once a month I like to give my self what I like to call my mum mot (mumot!) I try new beauty and hair goodies all the time and share my thoughts and recommendations with you here. We all need a bit of self-care now and again don’t we?
Think of a MUMOT just like you would your cars annual MOT except this is more frequent and on human beings so nothing like it at all really!
As you can imagine when I worked in the salon I was a total beauty geek! I used all sorts of new products and tried out fancy treatments all the time. These days are long gone!
As a matter of fact, I haven’t spent much time caring for myself at all in recent years, and I can tell you my self-esteem took a good solid nosedive into the toilet. However, all that is going to change.
I promised myself, in January this year, call it new years resolution if you like, I need to make a shift and put in a bit of effort. The way you feel about your appearance has a profound impact on the way you feel inside.
Now I can see this, I look back and see the difference already.
A bit of makeup on my face gives me the confidence to have a conversation with somebody without out thinking “oh god let me hand you a barf bag, I look like shit.” My hair is blown and tidy instead of scraped back exposing my Cruella DeVille roots.
My skincare routine had improved, and instead of having the old “soap ‘n’ water and I’ll do” approach, I use quality products which have made an enormous difference to the look and feel of my skin.
You’ve still not explained what a monthly MUMOT entails!
Well, there is usually some routine maintenance such as semi-permanent hair removal, some eyebrow, and eyelash tweaking maybe even a self-tan if I’m feeling fancy! I will throw some nail care tips in there as well. I’ll share all my insider tips and tricks, show you how to do things and talk about products I’ve tried and recommended. Only the ones I love, are beneficial and most importantly work though!
So there you go hopefully you’ve got a good idea as to what the heck I’m talking about by now and no longer think I simply can’t spell!
